An accomplished guitarist, university lecturer, and artistic researcher with over four decades of international experience spanning South Africa, Europe, and the United States. Expertise bridges the worlds of classical precision and jazz improvisation, combined with a deep commitment to advanced music pedagogy and ensemble direction.


Education & Artistic Development


 

  • Academic Degrees: Master of Music (MMus) in Jazz Performance from the University of Cape Town (2018–2020);
  • Jazz and Classical Guitar studies at the Kunstuniversität Graz, Austria (1994–1998); Classical Guitar studies at the University of Cape Town (1984–1986).
  • Research Specialization: Certifications in Research Methodology (UNISA, 2018) and Artistic Research in Music (KU Leuven/edX, 2019).

  • Higher Education: Lecturer at the University of Cape Town, specializing in Jazz Guitar, Improvisation, Ensemble Leading, and Masterclasses. Lecturer at the University of Potsdam, Germany.
  • Institutions & Academies: Workshop leader and instructor at Drumtrainer Berlin (Band Workshops), Global Music Academy Berlin,  and various music schools across Germany. 
  • International Youth Mentorship: Faculty and workshop leader for the National Youth Jazz Festival (South Africa) and the Jazz Standard Youth Orchestra (New York, USA).
  • Secondary Education: Former Classical Guitar instructor at Reddam House and Rustenburg Girls’ High School (Cape Town).
